Previously, we traced the Gokak Agitation movement, which helped pass the order that gave Kannada language the first language position. In 1989, the order was cancelled by the High Court, in favor of the linguistic minorities. Through the following infographics, we will show how this decision has affected Bengaluru city, the language, and the identity of those who live here. We want to highlight the multilingual identity of the city and the power politics of languages.
