Language Standardization: Perspectives from Hindi and Dogri

The post shows application of formal languages in various spaces like households, educational institutions, in tandem with various other domains. It also gives an insight into the students' personal experiences where they were urged to avoid certain phrases and words in certain spaces, and the reasons behind such impositions. The primary reasons were to maintain the sanctity of places, conventional norms (and many more rooted in the socio-cultural principles followed by the people around them). The visual further traces the changes in the use of formal language with respect to the online systems, and shifts and the impacts of language usage on identity.

Here is an assorted mix of instances and experiences which tells us more about language standardization in different spaces across regions of north India.
