Raising Voice for Regional Voice

razberryvine

Indian history has seen several language movements because of India's diverse nature. People, from different states, have raised their voice to protect the status of their regional language whenever they saw another language as a threat. Punjabi Suba Movement was started to create a separate state of Punjab for Punjabi-speaking people from the bilingual East Punjab state. The Hindi-Urdu controversy arose in 1967 which had a great impact on the formation of the nation. The Anti-Hindi agitation of Tamil Nadu in 1965 led to English language being retained indefinitely as the official language along with Hindi.
